Do It Yourself tips to get rid of bed bugs in your Austin home

When bedbugs have infested a home it can be a nightmare because they will prey on both humans and pets alike making life very uncomfortable in the house. Bedbugs are spread in different ways and no one can really know how the bedbugs got into their home in the first place.  If you have already seen the sign of a bed bug infestation in your home you can either decide to call in a professional or deal with the bedbugs on your own

In case the bed bugs infestation is still at the initial stage then you can apply the following procedures in your home to get rid of them before they multiply. These procedures involve materials that you use daily in the home and can save you both money and time if done well.

First, you need to move the items you believe to have been infested with the bedbugs to an outside area preferably the verandah or back yard.  These items may include furniture as well as personal items that might be harboring the bugs and should be cleaned and vacuumed thoroughly to remove them all.

Secondly, dismantle bedframes to expose areas in which the bedbugs could be hiding and also turn over drawers and cupboards to inspect and clean with insecticide any affected area or possible hiding areas. Make sure you seal any gaps in the furniture after cleaning them so that the bedbugs do not have a place to hide.

Thirdly, any infested garments or fabrics should be laundered using very hot water that has a disinfectant so as to able to kill the bedbugs. Placing them in a dryer that is set at a high temperature will also kill all the bedbugs in the fabrics.

Fourthly, seal the holes that allow pipes and wires to penetrate through the wall as this will remove any more places that could harbor bedbugs in the home. When this is done thoroughly clean the rooms that the furniture and belongings were taken out from by scrubbing the surfaces that were infested so as to remove any bedbug eggs that might still be in the room.

Largely, this process is able to rid the home of any bedbugs that might have started breeding in the home but if there is still an indication that the bedbugs were not completely eradicated then it is time to call in a professional pest control technician.
